MusicRadar: The onboard voice options might have been scaled down but the Acoustasonic Telecaster sticks the landing as a Player Series model, in what could be one of the guitars to make the hybrid build truly go mainstream.įender Player Series Acoustasonic Telecaster: The web says That, in sum, is the sort of thing the Acoustasonic format encourages. That said, it can be pressed into service of many different kinds of styles, perhaps some that are all your own. It is warmer, with a little more width than you’d expect from a Tele’s bridge pickup. Fender promises twang but this isn’t Pete Anderson levels of twang. Park yourself on position one for a more traditional electric guitar experience, but don’t necessarily expect a traditional Telecaster experience. In a sense, this is a sound that almost exists outside of the spectrum of acoustic/electric tones, and is sure to support pedalboard experimentation. The sound is just coming from the piezo and as you turn the blend control it adds drive. Here is where the true hybrid tones are, and as such, there are fewer references for what we are hearing. So if I had to choose one I’d have to go with the Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus. But, it’s not quite as durable as the UE Megablast and does not have the deep bass in the Xtreme. And finally, the Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus has a little bit of everything. The JBL Xtreme 2 has great bass, is water proof, but isn’t quite as portable. The UE Megablast is definitely the most rugged and is extremely durable, and waterproof, but is lacking bass. Now, is the Soundlink Revolve Plus better than the JBL Xtreme 2 and the UE Megablast? Well, it all comes down to personal preference. From the stylish look, incredible build quality, battery indicators, water resistance, charging dock, and amazing sound I dont think a portable speaker could get much better for the size. Overall, This speaker has really impressed me. We also have the ability to connect two Soundlink Revolve Plus speakers together if you really want to get that surround sound feel. The 360 audio really gives a unique experience. This speaker can also handle large rooms which is incredible for it being so small. We still get that balanced audio which I really enjoy. The high frequencies are good and are not sharp. The mid range is very clean and I haven’t experienced any listening fatigue. As for the mid range and most of the instruments they do well. However it has a lot more bass than the UE Megablast. In terms of bass the Soundlink Revolve Plus is thumping, almost like a bass boosted sound signature. ![]() We don’t get that 360 degree audio from the UE Megablast or the JBL Xtreme 2. This speaker actually plays 360 degree audio so you can hear music from any direction of the speaker giving you a surround sound experience. ![]() It has a deep, loud, and immersive sound that I was not expecting because of the small size. Let me start off by telling you I was very surprised how good this thing sounded. Now let’s get to the part we have been waiting for. The grille of the speaker is made out of smooth aluminum while both ends of the speaker are made out of a rubber like material. Bose even created a single extrusion process to eliminate the seams on the grille. The speaker looks modern and high quality. When it comes with the design aspect Bose really nailed it. This helps portability wise because you can pack this thing up in a bag without it taking up too much room. You’ll notice right away that the speaker is dense but it is also surprisingly smaller than the Xtreme 2 and the UE megablast. The smaller model does not have a handle so make sure to keep that in mind. ![]() At the top of the speaker we have a flexible fabric handle for portability which is extremely useful when you want to carry the speaker around. Bose designed it with soft materials that can absorb the impact. The speaker is bump resistant so you won’t have to worry if you accidentally drop it or knock it over. In terms of build quality I could tell right away that the Soundlink Plus is very durable. ![]()
